Grace Carr joined JS Pottery in 1987, and she and Jack Sexton have worked as a dynamic team since that time. Even before Grace met Jack, she was already a talented artist in her own right. She had taken art courses at Gaston College, studying drawing, jewelry design, and painting. Grace learned everything she could about art in general from every talented person she encountered, and she has synthesized that learning into her own genius at the potter's wheel.
She brings her own personal touch to each pot, be it with paint and brush or carving, a skill she acquired on her own by practice and trial and error. Her life-long desire to decorate and create beauty was realized almost immediately after beginning to work at JS Pottery, and today she devotes her working hours to perfecting every facet of pottery creation.
Grace is excited over the shop's recent changes. JS Pottery had moved to Belmont, NC and changed their name from 'JS Pottery' to 'JS Pottery Antiques and Collectibles'. One of the most exciting parts of this move is that Grace and Jack now have room to offer Pottery Classes, something customers have been wanting to see added for years. As one regular customer said, "Grace has so much talent to pass on to others and what better way to do so than through hands on instruction with people who want to learn the skill of turning pots?"
